Heart & Soul Cover and Preorders

On Friday, The Novel Approach hosted the cover reveal for my next novella, Heart & Soul. Behold the pretty:

heartsoul_web

Once again by the fantabulous AngstyG! The blurb:

Love can sneak up on you in the last place you’d expect.

Kellen Grady has known he’s gay since he was a teenager, but he’s never been that interested in dating. A professional pianist, he’s happy spending his days teaching students of all ages and his nights working and playing at an Atlanta bar and concert venue. When former pro football player Terrence Harvey and his brother buy the bar, Kellen’s thrown by the change to his routine, but he develops a quick friendship with Terrence, drawn to his sunny nature and sharp mind. Then their relationship takes a turn when Terrence surprises Kellen with a kiss. The unexpected action, though not unwelcome, leaves Kellen faced with reevaluating everything he thought he knew—about Terrence, and about himself.

COVER REVEAL: All in a Day’s Work

We have a gorgeous cover for the upcoming anthology All in a Day’s Work! Just check THIS baby out:

AllInADaysWork_small

Yowza!

I’m happy to be sharing space with some amazing authors for this anthology of workplace-themed short stories. My contribution is titled “Ice Cream Dreams,” and here’s the blurb:

Gage Albert is working at his Uncle Gordon’s ice cream shop when well-regarded young chef Loren Rey stops by, interested in using the shop’s unique flavors for his new restaurant. Gage plies Loren with samples and banter and soon finds ice cream isn’t the only thing on the menu. After the men share a hot night together, Gage approaches his uncle about Loren’s ideas, but he fears Gordon’s religious nature may mean rejection not just for Loren but also for Gage, who isn’t out to his uncle. Torn between the business and the personal, Gage has to decide if a future with Loren is worth revealing all.

Pre-orders coming soon! (And the paperback will be available to pre-order for GayRomLit!)

Coming Soon: Grand Adventures

Eric Arvin and T.J. Klune are two well-known and well-liked authors in the gay romance community who are happily coupled and planning to marry later this year. In December, Eric suddenly had to undergo brain surgery that’s left him mostly paralyzed. It’s been a very hard few months, but through everything, their love has only grown stronger.

GrandAdventuresLGEric and T.J. are both published (in part) by my primary publisher, Dreamspinner Press, which decided to put together an anthology, Grand Adventures, with all proceeds going to help Eric and T.J. pay the many extra costs associated with managing Eric’s condition. I was happy to contribute a second edition of my short story “Stripped,” and when I saw the lineup of other authors, I felt a little giddy. And the cover! OMG. So much love. (You’ll be able to buy prints and maybe even t-shirts of the cover art soon, too!)

The anthology will be released on March 31 and is available for preorder now in ebook or paperback format. It’s a fantastic way to help out two great guys.

(P.S. You can also donate directly to T.J. and Eric through the GoFundMe page set up by friends. Since everything at Dreamspinner is on sale right now, consider donating the difference between the purchase price and the price you pay for your preorder!)

Butt Ninjas Snippet: Clean Up on Aisle Me!

ButtNinjasFromHell_100dpi_cvrWe’re just a month away now from the release of the Butt Ninjas From Hell anthology, the sort-of sequel to last year’s Butt Pirates from Space. This time around, the anthology has eight contributing authors: returning authors are Kage Alan, T.C. Blue, Kiernan Kelly, and me, and our first-timers are JP Barnaby, Eden Winters, Ally Blue, and Jevocas Green.  The ebook comes out on April 16, with print following a couple of weeks later.

To whet your whistle, here’s a little snippet/tease from my contribution, “Clean Up on Aisle Me!”

“Jonny?”

Bert’s voice still sounded breathy. Jonny waved a hand. “I’ll be fine,” he said. “Just gotta find my equilibrium again. I think it tried to escape to another dimension.”

Bert chuckled as he sat next to Jonny. One of his large hands came to rest in the center of Jonny’s back. “The others are gone, so feel free to catch your breath,” he said. “The first battle’s always the hardest, especially without any real training behind you. You did a great job—”

Energy surged through Jonny, and he spun around in a move worthy of a ninja, landing straddled across Bert’s lap. He grabbed the back of Bert’s head with one hand and used the other to shove that damn mask far enough down that he could get his mouth on Bert’s.

At that moment, Jonny didn’t even care if Bert was gay. He was there, they were there, both of them alive and well and on the correct plane of existence, and damned if Jonny wasn’t going to go for everything he could get.

Playing Ball Cover Reveal and Pre-orders!

I am thrilled to be able to show off the gorgeous cover for the Playing Ball anthology, which comes out from Dreamspinner Press on September 25. It’s simple and elegant and perfect.

So pretty! Big thanks to cover artist Aaron Anderson.

Even better, you can pre-order the book now! GO RIGHT HERE!

My story in the anthology is a novella called Home Field Advantage. The blurb:

Toby MacMillan, grandson of Atlanta Braves owner Ray MacMillan, lives for baseball and loves his team. When he meets new team member Caleb Browning, an innocent welcome-to-the-big-leagues dinner leads to a not-so-innocent night together. Toby quickly calls things off, afraid of the ramifications of their tryst, but the two men develop a friendship that soon becomes more. After Caleb takes a fastball to the head, their budding romance hits the news—and Toby’s grandfather hits the roof. When Ray MacMillan demands Toby deny the relationship, Toby must choose between the team he’s loved all his life and the man he could love for the rest of it.

Butt Pirates are Coming Soon!

Butt Pirate in Space CoverYes, you’re reading that title right. Butt Pirates in Space (yes, you should read that as “IN SPAAAACE!”) is a new anthology coming later this week from MLR Press. It includes my short story “What to Expect When Your Boyfriend Is Expecting.” Yes, it’s MPREG… well, sort of.

The blurb:

A year after his arrival on the planet Lalande with a group of Earth scientists, Zeke’s had a lot of adjustment to do. He sure never expected to fall in love with a Lalandian, much less for Zeph to end up pregnant. And just about the time Zeke gets used to that idea, their unborn child draws the attention of more than just the scientific community. When kidnappers strike in the form of a band of privateers, Zeke has to put all his wits to work to outsmart them and reunite his family.

The anthology itself came out of a kind of crazy panel at Outlantacon last year, and we’ll be having a follow-up panel and release party at Outlantacon this year. Kage Alan is already insisting that, next year, we go for butt ninjas.

Those sneaky bastards.

En Fuego is Coming Soon!

My next novella, En Fuego, which releases on December 12, is now coming soon and up for preorder at the Dreamspinner Press website. Preorder is a new feature for DSP, so this is the first time one of my stories has been available. Exciting! 🙂

The blurb:

Marshall Ramirez isn’t looking to fall in love, but from the moment firefighter Brad Flannery walks through the doors of Marsh’s veterinary clinic, he’s smitten. Marsh treats Fuego, the cat Brad rescued from a house fire, and convinces Brad to take her on as a foster—along with the three kittens Marsh helps her deliver. What Marsh really wants, though, is for Brad to keep him too.

Accidental Love, Now Coming Soon!

My next release, the M/M college roommates novella Accidental Love, is now coming soon at Amber Allure! Part of the Hot College Daze series, it’ll be out on Sunday, February 5. Yay!

Have a gander at the blurb:

College roommates Greg and Keith are polar opposites when it comes to relationships. Greg equates sex with the alcohol and drugs he gave up, while Keith protects his heart by keeping sex strictly casual. At first, neither Greg nor Keith realizes the other is gay, but once they get to know each other better, they feel drawn together, and their developing attraction makes each of them reevaluate his stance on relationships.

Keith starts out thinking he only wants a roommates-with-benefits arrangement, something more than his usual weekend flings but still casual, yet soon he begins to feel more for Greg. Greg’s afraid of what he’s feeling because he has trouble mentally separating sex from the other bad habits that had nearly ruined his life.

Greg’s fears leave him spooked by an impromptu kiss following a game of one-on-one basketball, but that’s nothing compared with how he feels after a dinner date ends with the two men having sex. To help bring Greg back from the edge, Keith opens up his heart, but will it be enough to allow them to move forward together?

A Free Read, A 5-Star Review, and A Pretty Pretty Picture

While I’m waiting to hear back from the mechanic about car repairs (my car has sprung an oil leak), a few housekeeping notes:

My m/m short “Christening,” part of the Dreamspinner Press Halloween Howl promotion, can be downloaded here, if you haven’t located it on your own yet. 🙂

Musings of a Bookworm gave Sand & Water a lovely 5-star review. A snippet: If you like reading a story about the human condition this is the book for you. It is gentle and stunning and you won’t regret the journey.

And finally, I have beautiful cover art by Reese Dante for my short “In From the Cold,” part of Silver Publishing’s Dreaming of a White Christmas set:

Oh myyyyy, that’s one blue eye!

(The blurb for the story: When Jeff Young walks into the rural Georgia lodge Neal Owens runs, he’s just looking for a room to escape a frigid December night. What he ends up finding is a new friend, a lover, and maybe more, all wrapped up in one hot package.)

Excerpt from Sand & Water

Sand & Water, which comes out on Monday, is my first published novel. I’ve always been much more of a short story writer, but a couple years ago, I decided to give National Novel Writing Month a try. I don’t know why the structure works for me, but it does. The first year, I wrote 53,000 words on a fanfiction project, and last year, I wrote 63,000 on Sand & Water. I finished the first draft a month later. My plan for this year is to finish at least one book of a trilogy I’ve been developing.

In this excerpt, John who’s, a widower raising his young daughter, takes her to the park, where he meets Bryan. The two men strike up a friendship, but it won’t be long until it develops into more. Enjoy. 🙂
