With the various events I’ve attended this year, I’ve ended up with an overabundance of author and publisher swag. I have bookmarks, pens, postcards, trading cards, magnets, and a bunch of other great stuff. Unfortunately, it’s way more great stuff than I can use!
So I’ve decided to share the wealth. I have a pile of about a dozen “goodie bags” with a random assortment of swag in each one, and I’m giving them away. How do you get one? Easy-peasy: post a comment here recommending the best M/M romance you’ve read this year (new or not), and email your name and mailing address to shaeconnorwrites@gmail.com. Why both? Well, the commenting is just because I want to pick your brains and make sure I haven’t missed any great books! 😉
As a warning, much of the swag came from the GayRomLit retreat, so if you attended that, you might not want another set. On the other hand, you might!
Oooh, the best M/M romance I’ve read this year? That’ll be tough. I did like the Shards of the Mind by Theolyn Boese, but that was more M/M/F/F (and it’s a sequel, so probably best to read Daughters of Terra first), and it did have some unusual twists to the story. Gemini by Chris Owen was good, for M/M/M. Oh, and Some Kind of Magic by R. Cooper. The Peacock and the Firebird by Julia Talbot had an interesting setting, and Adrianna Dane’s Body Parts was intriguing as well. But I think my favorite so far would have to be either Astrid Amara’s Half Pass or Wanting by M.L. Rhodes or the Thirteenth Child by J.L. O’Faolain or Jump First by Charles Edward. Also, though I haven’t read any new things by them this year, I’m usually a huge fan of Michael Thomas Ford (particularly Last Summer, Changing Tides, and Looking For It), Josh Lanyon, Mickie B. Ashling, and Z.A. Maxfield, and if you haven’t read it, I do recommend reading the Drama! series by Paul Ruditis (even though the romantic aspect doesn’t blossom until the fourth book) or Out of the Pocket by Bill Konigsberg.
Wow, that’s a great list! I got to meet Z.A. at GayRomLit, and she’s awesome. Swag to come. 🙂
Hmm… I haven’t read a lot of MM stuff, but I have a ton on my list of things to read. I mostly just read your and Rachel’s stuff.
I loved Sand & Water by the way… 🙂
I recently got into a new fandom and am currently looking for some really good werewolf stuff to read- if I find something I like, I’ll let you know.
Yay, thanks! I didn’t get your address, though, if you want swag. 🙂
Oh the best mm I have read this year has to be saints and sinners by Marie sexton I think lol
I have have read so many
Oh an the locker room by Amy lane, the seventh veil by Heidi cullinan note inthe margin isabelle rowan. Oh my gosh tooo many to think about lol
I’ve read three of those (and loved them!). Haven’t gotten to “The Seventh Veil” yet, although I love Heidi’s work. “Special Delivery” is one of my favorites.
Swag to come. 🙂
Ooh~ I’ve read so many… It’s so hard to choose… hmm…
Well, one that I have recently read and loved was “Broken” by Jessica Freely. It’s a dark story but it’s great in my book because it wasn’t an easy HEA. Both characters had to work hard for their happiness and that made all the horrible things one of the MC’s had to go through, so worth it.
:3 so if you haven’t read it but perhaps it interests you, I definitely say go for it!
Oh! wait!! I just remembered another… you simply MUST, MUST, MUST read “I, Omega” by Kari Gregg (if you have not had the chance yet.)
Mff~ It’s so hot! Raunchy and just… all around sizzling! lol…
Ooo, those sound good, thanks! Swag to come. 🙂
I discovered m/m books this year and fell in love with them. I have read so many of them i cant get enough. My favorite one is actually a free online read The Girl For Me by Failte. I just loved that book.
Awesome, thanks! Swag to come. 🙂
The best book I have read this year is Bear, Otter, and the Kid by TJ Klune. Also Clear Water by Amy Lane, Bulletproof by Mary Calmes, Living Promises also by Amy Lane, Second You Sin by Scott Sherman, All She Wrote by Josh Lanyon and Lord of the White Hell by Ginn Hale.
Hope I’m not too late! I swear I made a comment here before, but uhhh, I must’ve been delusional or dreaming.
Oh, I just started reading M/M again this year after a slump so I’ve read more than a hundred! Granted, not all of them were great, but some really stood out. This year I read L.B. Gregg’s Romano and Albright series, and it was fantastic. Lots of humor and really fun mysteries. The MCs have wonderful chemistry and their sex scenes are always hot. I read Crying for the Moon by Sarah Madison and fell absolutely in love with her characters, particularly Peter and Nick – although they’re secondary characters in the novel. Characters are always Sarah Madison’s strongest suit. 18% Gray by Anne Tenino was also amazing. It’s sci-fi but it isn’t the kind that has you scratching your head in confusion. She has an amazing narrative voice that changes to match the personality of her characters.
Take My Picture by Giselle Ellis made me cry. It’s a pretty old book, first released as part of an anthology in 2007, but I don’t know why I only read it this year. It was absolutely fantastic and emotional. Katie Allen’s Private Dicks and the sequel, Hide Out, are also cool. Again, they weren’t released this year but I only read them recently. Hot and fantastic mystery.
Wow, this got to be pretty long… I’m sure I have some more to say but I don’t want to repeat anything you might’ve read or anything somebody else might’ve recommended already. 🙂
